Receiving the Ball
Good soccer players can receive the ball, while keeping it under control and are able to do something with the ball after they receive it. Balls can be received either from the ground or the air, so it is important to practice receiving it from both ways.
Receiving the Ball on the Ground
•Focus on the ball to see where it is coming from.
•Decide which foot you will use to receive the ball with (this may depend on the location of the defender).
•When receiving the ball, keep your ankle locked and toe pointed up.
•Try not to stop the ball, but prepare it for what you will do with it next (pass, shot, dribble)

•Focus on the ball to see where it is coming from.
•Try to determine the speed and direction of the ball
•Decide which body part will receive the ball (foot, thigh, chest or head).
•Present that part the body to the ball.
•Use that part of the body to control the ball and slow it down and prepare for the next action (shot, dribble, or pass).
